Brookfield Historical Society

Flag Day at Historic Grossdale Station

About the Society

The first Historical Society began in 1939 followed by a group formed for Brookfield's Jubilee celebration in 1968.

Old Water Tower The present Society was formed in 1977 when the director, Greg Gall, ran an ad in the local paper asking other historical minded citizens to join him in forming a historical society.

Preserving the old Prairie Avenue (Grossdale) railroad station is the Society's number one goal. The station also serves as a museum about Brookfield and the surrounding area. Other goals are to add to the cultural activities in town and to provide education through information on the history of Brookfield.

The Society exists only through the efforts of our active and friendly members. We welcome your interest and inquiries. We cordially invite you to attend one of our meetings on the fourth Friday of each month at 7:30 pm in the old station. (No meeting in December).
